Ko Chang – Every time I go there, it always rains!
Ko Chang is the second biggest island in Thailand. It is located on the edge of the east coast, near Cambodia. This island is very famous for its beautiful sea. However, I didn’t have many opportunities to go to Ko Chang because I used to like traveling in Southern Thailand. When I wanted to go to some beautiful beaches, I used to stop by Krabi or Ko Samui in Southern Thailand. So, I’ve been to Ko Chang only four times. It rained a lot while I stayed there, though. I only had one sunny day in Ko Chang.
When I went there for the first time, I stayed there for two nights, but it rained the whole two days. The second time, the weather was good, but I couldn’t find any vacant hotels because it was in the middle of the new year’s holidays, so my wife was very angry. She blamed me for not reserving any hotels, and she wanted to go back to Bangkok. After all, we took the bus for about 14 hours for the round trip, and stayed in Ko Chang for only one hour. This is such a ridiculous story, isn’t it? LOL
The third time, I stayed there for three nights, but it was stormy almost everyday, so I was angry, and I went to swim in the storm even though my wife told me not to. It was a really bad decision, though. The water was too rough for swimming. I tried to get out of the sea, but the wave pulled me down and far away from the land, so I was about to drown. It was really terrible.
The fourth time, when I arrived there, it was dull and cloudy, with occasional rain. But at that time, I didn’t expect anything special because I went there just to kill time for 2 nights. Even though it was raining, I was happy enough to take some pictures. However, the next day, the weather was really good. The fine weather lasted until I left Ko Chang. Actually, I didn’t want to go back to Bangkok, but I had an appointment with my wife, so I reluctantly returned to Bangkok.
I’m sorry, I have written about my useless experiences a lot, but actually, I wanted to write that seasons are important for traveling to Ko Chang. I wrote that the weather was bad my first and third visit there. They were in July and September. From the middle of May to the middle of October, Thailand has its rainy season. Especially, September has a high risk of rain. Then my fourth visit was in March, it was during the hot season. From my experience, there is little rain during the hot season, but that year had abnormal weather, so it rained more than usual. If you go to Ko Chang, I recommend you go there during the dry season. It is from the end of October to the middle of February. In September, it will be more fan to go to other sightseeing spots.
Today’s pictures are of White Sand Beach with a cloudy sky. I’m afraid whether or not these pictures might remind somebody of the Tsunami. I hesitate a little, but have decided to post them today.
