Railay East Beach – quiet and nice view

Krabi has three famous beaches, they are Ao Nang Beach, Railay (Rai Leh) beach, and Phra Nang Beach. When I went there for the first time, I didn’t know there were three famous beaches, though. Even the second time, I only knew of Ao Nang Beach. My first visit there, I asked the minibus driver which beach was quiet, and he took me to a quiet beach. However, it was way too quiet! There was nobody there except me. On top of that, the ocean stays shallow for a long time, and it was full of starfish and tiny crabs. Even though it had a nice view and was quiet, I couldn’t stand staying on a beach where I couldn’t even swim. Therefore, I decided to go to other beaches the next morning. Then, I asked the driver to take me to a busier beach. The next beach was a bit crowded, but it had long stretch of sand and the sea was blue. Best of all, it was more beautiful than I expected. It looked just like a beach resort. I really enjoyed my time there. That beach was Ao Nang Beach.

Therefore, I already knew about Ao Nang Beach during my second visit, but I didn’t book any hotels. So after arrived at the Krabi Airport, I was looking for a travel agent and asked them if they had any hotel vacancies or not. They were very friendly to me. When I asked them about hotels, they started a small chat with me. It was not annoying because I was free that day. I talked with them for a while, and I saw some pictures which they had. I was especially interested in the picture of the glitter stone in the cave, so I asked them where it was. They told me a lot about the cave and Railay Beach. For example,

  • The cave’s name is Diamond Cave and it’s located in Railay East Beach.
  • In order to go to Railay East Beach, you might want to get the boat from Ao Nam Maow.
(However, there aren’t many boats. If you don’t have much time, it could be faster to go there from Ao Nang Beach, but the boat arrives at Railay West, so you have to walk to Railay East from there about 15 minutes.)
  • You can’t swim at Railay East Beach because the beach is rocky.
  • If you want to swim, you can walk to either Railay West Beach or Phra Nang Beach from Railay East Beach (It is not very close, though.)
  • You can enjoy rock climbing at Railay East Beach.

After all, I decided to stay Railay East Beach for one night. Even though it was only one night, I had a really good time. I think that was because of the good information they gave me. Thai people sometimes give me incorrect information, and lead me to some troubles. I think I was very lucky that time. I hope that my travel will be like this every time.
