Buddha statues in Wat Mahathat in Sukhothai
I posted some pictures of Buddha statues in Wat Mahathat in Sukhothai Historical Park today. I’m writing the same explanation that I’ve already written in an old post, “Wat Mahathat” is not a particular temple’s name, but it means it’s a temple with a stupa that is enshrined with Buddha relics. This temple also has a stupa that is in true Sukhothai style, and it’s considered the most important temple in Sukhothai Historical Park. I’m sorry. I’m going to write a further explanation on another occasion. Otherwise, I will run out of things to write when I post pictures of the stupa next time.
Anyway, I took most of these pictures in the morning. Usually, I can’t get up early when I travel. However, I was staying at a guest house just outside of the Historical Park. I thought I would be wasting a lot of time if I didn’t go to Sukhothai Historical Park in the morning. It took only about 5 minutes to get to Historical Park from the guest house, so I managed to wake up at 6:30 a.m.. Before I went to the park, I walked around for a while, and I found a bicycle rental shop. To my surprise, they were already open. In order to go sightseeing in Sukhothai Historical Park, we need some kind of transportation because the park is huge. Actually, I had already rented a motorcycle the day before, but I thought a bicycle would be better than a motorcycle in the morning. So I rented a bicycle and went there.
I stayed at the guest houses located near the park in early January and late April. January is the best month to go to Thailand, but it is a little cold in the morning. However, riding a bicycle in the cool air was really refreshing. On the other hand, Thailand is still the hottest in late April, so it’s needless to say that the day time was very hot. Still, it was cool in the morning, and it was also really refreshing. Unfortunately, the bicycles were not very good. I think if the bicycle had been nice, I could have felt better, but it was an improvement on 10 years ago. If you like nature and to see historical sites, I recommend you to go to Sukhothai Historical Park in the morning.
